Teachers in Japan still work longest hours among OECD, other countries: survey


Breaking down the working hours, Japanese junior high school teachers spend an average of 5.6 hours on extracurricular activities, compared to the international average of 1.7 hours. Elementary school teachers spend 4.5 hours on administrative tasks, while junior high school teachers spend 5.2 hours, against global averages of 2.7 and 3.0 hours, respectively.
