Will Japan’s high school tuition-free program cover foreign students?

Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party, its junior coalition partner Komeito and Nippon Ishin (the Japan Innovation Party) have agreed to include foreign students expected to settle in Japan as beneficiaries of the tuition-free high school program set to begin in the 2026 school year. This initiative will eliminate income restrictions and cover both public and private high schools.
