I've been working in the marketing department at a game company in Japan for a little over a year now. Really enjoying it, and have learned a lot from my coworkers and manager.
However, there is one thing that creeps me out, as well as many others in the company.
My manager, who is in his late 40s, goes out for lunch with a young female member of the marketing department, who is in her young 20s, literally every day.
He is married, they don’t particularly try too hard to hide it, and basically everyone in the company is aware they are going to lunch together.
Have you come across something similar in your workplaces? The coworkers I talk to all think it’s weird/creepy, but aren’t willing to bring it up, I guess because they think it won’t make a difference, or they are worried about repercussions as he is a higher-up in the company.
Is this just a normal thing in Japan?
