Anyone stayed in the Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo before? We’re thinking of staying there, but it looks to be a bit out of the main areas (Shibuya, Shinjuku etc). Last time we stayed in Akasaka and it was very central. We’re just worried we might be a bit too far out and going to places might become a hassle. Please let me know if you ever stayed there and what you thought of the location.

Oh c’mon. This sub only does extremes, either declares a 4-hour one way train ride an easy day trip or agonizes over 10 minutes on the subway and how that can ruin the entire trip.
You’ll be fine.
(I’d argue that the area is actually nicer than Shinjuku but we’ll never win that argument against the single instagram braincell)
Location matters a lot less than you think.
Also there are 9800 reviews on Google…with a 4.4 rating. You’ll be fine,
I checked out this morning. It’s a beautiful hotel with excellent hospitality and gardens. I also enjoyed the onsen. I described it as the hotel your wealthy aunt would enjoy.
It is further away from a train station and restaurants/stores than a place in Akasaka, but if you don’t plan to frequently return during the day it’s no big deal.
It’s 10 minutes walk from the Yurakucho line, that’s fairly central in Tokyo. That the place is “central” relative to Shibuya and Shinjuku kind of does not matter. What matter is where you even want to go. You are in Shinjuku in… 16-20 minutes from the closest station. That is not really different than from Akasaka.
The Yurakucho line go dirrecty to places like Ikebukuro, Ginza and Toyosu, have connections with ton of lines like the Yamanote, Chuo/Sobu, Tozai, Namboku, Oedo, Shinjuku, Hibiya, Chiyoda, Mita, Ginza, Hibiya, Yurikamome… overall can go about anywhere you could with with 1 transfer. Just use google maps to see how long it would get to go to specific place you want to visit.
It’s a -fantastic- hotel, luxurious but not “in your face”, splendid gardens, in a very quiet area. Go for it.
