12 nights in Japan in October with 5-year old

We're planning our Japan trip for October 2026. It'll be me, my wife, and 5-year old daughter. My wife and I visited Japan in 2019, but it'll be a new experience with our daughter this time around! Here's a very rough itinerary:

Day 1 (Tokyo): Arrive at Narita airport midday. Take the Narita Express to Shimbashi (where we'll be staying). Spend the afternoon and evening exploring Shimbashi and Ginza (assuming we're not too tired)

Day 2 (Tokyo): Explore Shinjuku, potentially also visit the Making of Harry Potter

Day 3 (Tokyo): Tokyo Disneyland

Day 4 (Tokyo): Explore Akihabara, Asakusa, and visit Skytree

Day 5 (Tokyo): Explore Shibuya and Harajuku

Day 6 (Tokyo): Do laundry, explore Odaiba and visit TeamLab Planets

Day 7 (Tokyo>Kyoto): arrive in Kyoto midday and spend the rest of the day walking around the city

Day 8 (Kyoto): Arashiyama monkey park (I know it's a bit of a climb, but I can carry my daughter when she gets tired) OR explore Gion

Day 9 (Kyoto): Daytrip to Nara

Day 10 (Kyoto>Osaka): Arrive in Osaka midday and spend the rest of the day exploring Dotonbori

Day 11 (Osaka): Universal Studios

Day 12 (Osaka): Aquarium and Ferris wheel in the morning. In the afternoon/evening explore a different area near Umeda (suggestions)

Day 13: Fly back home

  1. Is this a realistic plan considering we'll have a 5-year old? The "explore x area" days are flexible so we can rest if needed.
  2. We want to have something for our kid everyday (theme park, animal cafe, aquarium, etc). Suggestions welcome!
