I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I'm actually getting tired of Japanese food, and Japanese takes on other ethnicities (Italian, Chinese, Indian, Thai, etc)
I've lived here for almost a decade and have gone back to eating simply and mostly at home because I don't feel excited going out anymore. The first 3-4 years in Tokyo was AMAZING, every food experience was great, but I guess I'm just spoiled now.
Have you guys found anything that is worth trying recently? Not talking about high end sushi omakse or anything (although if you have unique recommendations I'll still go), but rather just new food.
(btw I'm aware of how spoiled and ungrateful this sounds, but figured I'd ask anyway)

What counts as new?
just explore shimokitazawa and get soup curry/high end pizza at 400°C (new store opening that doesnt need reservations)/couscous
plenty of international options
My recent favorite is Moroccan food. I never thought some prunes will be that tasty on a meat dish.
What about cuisine you don’t have often like Peruvian or Ethiopian?
If you’re into curry actual dedicated Nepali places are great- and often the standard Indian places are run by Nepali people and you find they have a separate menu – just skip the butter chicken + naan that they do for the locals and get to the good stuff
Felt the same way and been craving sandwich’s recently so here’s two I tried last month and loved.
Daps Hood Joint – Kichijoji American style sandwich
New York Burger – Shin-Okubo Not really New York style but Korean style cheeseburger with fried cheese
Looking for banh mi places if anyone has any recommendations
Couple of local izakayas with home-like meals. You come and eat whatever is on menu today without really specifying the order. Just bring me whatever you’re cooking over there, it looks delicious. And a bottle of beer. Got a good chunk of maguro? Here comes sashimi. Pumpkin is in season? Here’s pumpkin salad. And so on. Never know what you’re gonna get tomorrow.
How about Greek, Russian, Egyptian cuisine. Peruvian is trending too!
Milieu in Higashiazabu, Anna’s kitchen in Meguro and Nefertiti in Nishiazabu are some of my recs along with Destino51 in Aoyama
