Is it only me or commercial gyms personal trainers here only focus on machine training?

I was salestalked by an instructor in Konami if I wanna try having a personal trainer. I asked if they can guide me with free weights/compound movement exercises and she kinda said they focus on machine exercises – knowing the forms etc.

And upon observing the gym, I only see trainers guiding customers in machines, no one is having sessions on the free weights area.

I want to get fit and start strength training, doing compound movements etc but I don’t want to do bench press alone for first time so I ask.
