When making purchases of Amazon Japan, I often use gift cards purchased from convenience stores.
Are there prepaid VISA/Mastercards? I haven't seen them. Where can you get them?
EDIT: I'm looking to converting cash and putting it into a prepaid or credit card, without linking to my bank account etc.
EDIT2: Thanks for the information about different services I didn't know about. ChatGPT gave a decent summary:
Given that you want to:
Use cash at a convenience store to load money
Use that loaded balance for Visa‑style online purchases
Kyash is probably the most straightforward overall: allows cash top-up via konbini, decent limits, and very usable for online payments.
Vandle Card (non‑Plus) is good if your usage is moderate, because it also supports cash top-up and gives you a VISA prepaid card. But its 1‑time and monthly limits are lower unless you use the “Plus” version.
Wise is not ideal for your “cash top-up at store” requirement — it doesn’t support that.
Revolut is also not suitable for cash top-up in stores, but is excellent if you fund via bank / card and want strong global spending ability.
