My number card- what info is shared when visiting clinics..would like to share some of my experience

Hello…I am slightly confused. I have lived in Japan for most of the past 10 years, but was working in Cambodia/Thailand when Mynumber became the norm.

I thought that using Mynumber was only for billing purposes and maybe some other information, but I get prescribed different medicines from seperate clinics, as one is for seizures and the other for chronic pain. I had an experience in Osaka when I was reporting for work, but out of medicine that I lost when traveling and I used Mynumber card at the clinic, and if I remember correctly the nurse or head nurse mentioned that I was prescribed anti seizure medicine at x clinic 2 weeks ago. I responded with, yes, but I lost that medicine whilst staying in my hotel, so that is why I am here.

They eventually gave me a prescription, but IMO, I value my privacy and it makes it difficult/kind of annoying having to explain that I have to go to different clinics for certain medicines because some of the medicine is only distributed by senmon clinics..it just makes me worry about my privacy and I think it looks like I am double dipping or trying to get all kinds of meds if they are able to see all my clinic visits..I travel a lot for work and visiting friends, so sometimes I will stop at a clinic and I just want to know exactly what information is shared? I value my privacy and since the doctors themselves have me going to different clinics, I would just like some clarification on the best way to protect my privacy and avoid having to explain these types of things….also, recently I went to a clinic and there was no problem at all or mention of past or recent medicine that was distributed. Any clarification or help in order to help me understand/how I should go about protecting my privacy would be really helpful.

Any help is genuinely appreciated.
