Me and my two buddies, (all American males in our mid-20's), are taking a three week trip to Japan from January 13 – Feb 3. This trip is purely for traveling/vacationing. This is my fourth time visiting Japan, and my buddies second and third time each. We've all done the typical Tokyo – Kyoto – Osaka route. We've made day trips out to Kamakura, Hakone, Nara, and Nagoya as well.
This time we're visiting for three weeks as opposed to our usual two. And so we're looking for some advice on some new places to check out. Our plan, as of now, is to start and end our trip in Tokyo. The first 5 days, and the last 4 (open to discuss). That would leave 12 days in the middle of our trip up for discussion. We are thinking (not fully decided) of spending some of that time in the Kyoto-Osaka Kansai region. But, we feel as though we have enough time on our hands to add an additional hub-city somewhere else. Was just curious if anyone on here had any recommendations or advice on some cool places to check out.
If it matters, we were planning on taking a day-trip from Tokyo to Yokohama, and a day-trip from either Osaka or Kyoto to Kobe.
Open to hub-city ideas or just day-trip ideas as well! Thank you~
