Wisdom tooth pain in Japan

Hi everyone,

I recently moved to Japan and I’m having problems with my wisdom tooth. It seems to be coming in again, and it hurts… feels sensitive and a bit inflamed.

A few months ago, I saw a dentist in Europe and they gave me antibiotics, which helped at the time, but now the pain is back and I’m worried it’s going to keep happening.

I’m unsure what to do next. Should I go to a private dentist?
Does the National Health Insurance (NHI) cover wisdom tooth issues, like treatment, extraction, or medication?

I don’t have a job yet, so I don’t have private insurance, just National Health Insurance. I’m a bit lost about what my options are and what costs to expect.

Any advice or personal experience would be really appreciated 🙏
