[Spoilers] World Tag League 2025: Night Two (11/22) – B Block

Wolf watch: absent

Yoshinobu Kanemaru, Chase Owens, Yujiro Takahashi def Tatsuya Matsumoto, Bishamon (YOSHI-HASHI, Hirooki Goto) — (8:14, Figure Four Leglock)

  • Chase has his branding iron with him, which I don’t remember seeing on the last show or Purge Night.

  • HoT wait until the entrances are finished to attack. Yuj and Goto stay in the ring.

  • HoT Shenanigans level: mild.

  • Post match, Chase and Yuj briefly shit talk with Bishamon.

Katsuya Murashima, Boltin Oleg, Toru Yano def Masatora Yasuda, Satoshi Kojima, Taichi — (7:39, Powerbomb)

  • Yasuda’s left knee is taped up, as is Oleg’s right knee and shoulder.

  • Taichi starts with Yano, who immediately tags out to Murashima.

  • Post match, Taichi helps Yasuda out of the ring before he and Koji face off with Oleg and Yano respectively.

Daiki Nagai, War Dragons (Drilla Moloney, Shingo Takagi) def Shoma Kato, Shuji Ishikawa, El Desperado — (8:03, Drilla Killa)

  • Nagai and Shingo are wearing Unaffiliated hoodies (that I assume will be released for sale soon), which made Drilla in his big fur look kind of funny standing next to them.

  • Despe’s lower back is taped up. On our last show I forgot to mention that Shuji has gear to match Despe’s, it’s cute.

  • Drilla and Despe elect to start.

  • This was pretty fun. Unaffilated War Dragons all came together.

  • Post match, on the outside Shingo talks shit with Shuji while Nagai gets a couple extra shots on Despe.

Gedo, Gabe Kidd, Yota Tsuji def Dick Togo, Don Fale, EVIL — (7:04, Drill a Hole Piledriver)

  • War Dogs/UA pose at the curtain, then disrobe so they can run down to the ring to jumpstart things. After some double and triple teaming, Gedo and Dick end up the first legal men.

  • HoT Shenanigans level: mid-moderate. EVIL did the announce table spot and it sounded like Tsuji was deepthroating the mic. (In his Backstage Comments, Tsuji blames his raspy voice on the Pumping Bomber he took from Shingo last night.)

  • Post match, on the outside Tsuji gets some extra shots in on EVIL. They talk a little shit but HoT leave without incident.

WTL 2025 B Block: Monster Sauce (Alex Zayne, Lance Archer) def SANADA[beach day version], Ren Narita — (9:06, Blackout Sauce [Archer’s crucifix powerbomb finisher but he throws Zayne on the other guy])

  • Ren starts hassling the ref immediately after their entrances are done.

  • During their entrance Monster Sauce spend a lot of time walking around the ring playing to the fans. I’m still having trouble with Archer just completely disregarding his AEW character in a way we haven’t really seen since Nick Wayne in BOSJ.

  • Archer calls out Narita to start.

  • HoT Shenanigans level: moderate. Funny spot where Ren spit water in Archer’s face but it didn’t effect him at all.

  • In the ending stretch, Nobu came out but Archer dodged the whiskey mist and it hit SANADA instead. This didn’t directly lead to the finish, but it contributed to the downfall.

  • Next Block Matches (25th): MS vs Callum/GOK, HoT vs K.O.B

WTL 2025 B Block: Ryohei Oiwa, Zack Sabre Jr. def Callum Newman, Great-O-Khan[w/JAY] — (13:03, Jackknife pin)

  • Post-entrances, Callum steps up to talk shit while GOK lingers in the back posing. Callum leaves the ring so GOK can start with Oiwa.

  • United Empire continue to be a faction to watch because there’s obviously something brewing here.

  • Post match, GOK sits in the ring shocked. A salty Callum and JAY leave without interacting with him at all, GOK trails behind a few steps.

  • Next Block Matches: TMDK vs Shota/Yuya, Callum/GOK vs Monster Sauce

WTL 2025 B Block: Yuya Uemura, Shota Umino def El Phantasmo[w/Jado], Hiroshi Tanahashi — (17:20, Second Chapter)

  • Serious Shota, so very little fanservice.

  • Tana gets a pair of LED sunglasses, but not until he gets to the ring. Shota once again stretches on the ropes during their entrance and doesn’t pay any attention to Tana, while Yuya is laser focused on the Ace.

  • Post entrances, Tana and ELP compare abs before the teams meet on the Lion Mark.

  • ELP slaps hands with Shota, Yuya, then Tana before starting opposite Shota. They try to get a dueling chant going but it doesn’t really catch on.

  • This was fun and worth watching, but nothing spectacular. Yuya and Shota were the ones who worked a little more heelish here, though the crowd didn’t really treat them as heels. Tana hit the middle rope flipping senton on both Yuya and Shota.

  • In the closing moments, Yuya hit a plancha to Tana on the outside, and after the pin they end up sitting next to each other for a minute. Tana goes back in the ring to help ELP, then Yuya comes in and the teams kneel across from each other with the Lion Mark between them. Shota yells “leave Hontai to me” and then bows. Tana looks over to Yuya, then Tana and ELP bow. Yuya does not.

  • Tana and ELP stand up and leave, Shota holds the ropes open for Tana and talks to him for a minute. Yuya just lingers in the back until it’s time for them to have another little victory celebration. As he’s leaving, Shota stops to chat with Tenzan on commentary.

  • Weird to realize that this may be the last time we see Yuya and/or Shota opposite Tana.

  • Keep the fact that Shota Umino has just pinned the TV Champ in the back of your mind.

  • Next Block Matches: Shota/Yuya vs TMDK, Tana/ELP vs Finlay/Hiromu

WTL 2025 B Block: Hiromu Takahashi, David Finlay[w/Gedo] def Knock Out Brothers (OSKAR, Yuto-Ice) — (16:18, roll up)

  • During our day break, Hiromu had two singles matches and won NOAH’s single-elimination Juniors tournament.

  • Post-entrances, Hiromu starts stepping up to Yuto. They bump chests and then separate long enough to legally start.

  • Very good, and another really interesting one. Yuto and Hiromu is a really fun combination and I’m sad we probably won’t see very much of it unless Hiromu is finally allowed to be openweight. K.O.B against Finlay was also interesting but I have a sneaky feeling that’s not going to be as rare a matchup. Finlay did a lot of throwing Hiromu around without consent, and made a blind tag that won them the match.

  • Bomboclaat level: 1.75

  • Finlay immediately leaves the ring and goes out into the crowd to celebrate. K.O.B are flabbergasted.

  • When Finlay gets back ringside, Yuto yells at him a little until OSKAR puts a hand on his chest and guides him away; but once he’s gotten Yuto redirected OSKAR then has a little tantrum and kicks the turnbuckle pad before leaving the ring. Yuto grabs and throws a section of the ringside fencing right before he goes through the curtain.

  • Gedo fans the still KOed Hiromu with his jacket. Finlay poses over him, then begins his victory promo.

  • Not bad for their first tag outing, huh? There’s a million different ways he could’ve beaten K.O.B, but because he’s a good leader he chose mercy. But to every other team, he guarantees they will not get that same treatment. Hiromu had a busy schedule so Finlay is just going to ask him some questions. First, how does Hiromu feel?

  • Finlay kneels down to Hiromu, who’s still laying on the mat. Hiromu just groans in pain. Finlay translates: “Hiromu says ‘Cho genki.’(I’m okay)”

  • He asks who Hiromu’s favorite tag partner is. More groans. “He said Gedo. (Finley laughs) He said Gedo.” (Gedo says something I couldn’t hear, Finlay responds “I would hope so but I think I hurt him too much.”

  • Final question: who is winning WTL? Yet more groans. “He said Finlay and Hiromu.”

  • Now Hiromu, these people came to see us. Do you have a message for them. Still just groans. “Hiromu says ‘ganbare mas.’ (I’ll do my best)”

  • Finlay and Gedo celebrate for a minute, then Finlay drags Hiromu out of the ring and fireman carries him out.

  • Next Block Matches: Fin/Hiromu vs Tana/ELP, K.O.B vs Ren/SANADA
