I know you need to warn people about spiciness levels, but should I prepare mine to get destroyed?

  1. Should they write the truth that this food “**Kills even gods**,” or go with a crude translation?

  2. Be careful. In the spiciest level they use fresh black pepper in the dish. And then there is a side of kimchi. Basically suicide by spiciness.

  3. Surprised that 特辛 is more spicy than 神殺し.

One’s like “Special hot”, like okay.. but the other one is like “GODSLAYER!”.

  4. Been going to Jimon for a long time. These days, I have to clear my schedule the next day. Stay close to home base. Tastes great though and really good on cold winter nights.

  5. Totally agreed. As permanent resident of 20 years I thought I knew Japan spiciness but my anus paid the price, indeed.

  6. Reminds me of my first time in Dhaka in Bangladesh asking the street food vendor for “very spicy”. I love spicy food but that was my final boss. Ended up in pain and sweat. Got a free drink from him out of pure pity. Learned my lesson.

  7. I tried a ramen shop in Narita at a level 4 spicy, right before their spicy challenge ramen. I didn’t feel shit.

  8. 🥹not the “anus destroyer” just saying “it is significantly spicy” in Japanese. I suppose the anus destruction is subtext any Japanese person would understand

  9. Japan spice levels exponential. The level jumps aren’t small. Also, the spicy-ness isn’t like… pleasant; it’s bitter pain

  10. If you think you can handle it, go for the spice. Just remember, there’s no mercy in some of these dishes. You might end up questioning your life choices, but hey, that’s half the fun.

  11. My brother in law took me to a ramen spot in Yokohama. He knew I liked spicy food so told me he’d take care of it. The bastard gave me the hottest level spice without telling me! Sweating and trying to keep a brave face I painfully ate most of it before asking how he was able to eat his so easily. He burst out laughing telling me he got the normal spicy and gave me the spiciest 🤬
