[Spoilers] World Tag League 2025: Night Seven (11/29) – A Block

Wolf watch: absent

Zane Jay, Monster Sauce (Alex Zayne, Lance Archer) def Shoma Kato, Yuya Uemura, Shota Umino — (8:30, TACO Driver)

  • Shota and Yuya are a bit despondent due to their loss yesterday, but not so much that Shota would ignore the young fan on the entrance aisle who’s reaching out for him.

  • Kato is now missing his kneepads tonight. These boys been messing up their SenpaiMs laundry or something?

  • As we’re getting ready to start the two YL get forehead-to-forehead to talk shit. Then Archer gets ZJ’s attention and says “hey don’t you mess up and lose this like every time.” ZJ says not today. He and Kato start.

  • This was fine.

  • Post match, you have to pay close attention to see it but Yuya did leave a few moments before Shota did.

Jakob Austin Young, Callum Newman, Great-O-Khan def Daiki Nagai, Knock Out Brothers (OSKAR, Yuto-Ice) — (6:59, O-Khan-style Oozira Subaru-style Sheep Killer)

  • During K.O.B’s entrance pose, Callum walks over and spits in OSKAR’s face. OSKAR takes a second to remove his bandanna, then attacks. There’s a couple minutes of ringside/in the crowd brawl before Yuto rolls Callum into the ring.

  • Bomboclaat level: 0.5

  • This was pretty good. Wouldn’t say it’s a must-watch but there’s some interesting dynamics at play that you’ll miss if you only watch their upcoming League match.

  • Post-bell GOK holds the Sheep Killer for a while, until Callum comes in and stomps on Nagai. GOK seems to set Nagai up for something from Callum, but OSKAR runs in and they both bail.

  • Callum and JAY then start a brawl with Yuto on the outside, which OSKAR joins. It goes on for quite a while and Callum even bavkdrops Yasuda on the apron. Eventually OSKAR chases JAY to the back and Callum swaggers out behind them.

  • GOK just left after OSKAR chased he and Callum out of the ring.

Yoshinobu Kanemaru, SANADA[t-shirt version], Ren Narita def Gedo, Hiromu Takahashi, David Finlay — (6:16, Figure 4 Leglock)

  • We’re in Ren’s home prefecture and it’s his birthday, so he’s a little more over than usual.

  • Are Hiromu and Finlay getting along yet? No.

  • HoT strike during Finlay’s entrance announcement. They isolate Hiromu in the ring and team up on him until Hiromu gets the advantage, at which point Ren left in to be first legal for HoT.

  • HoT Shenanigans level: light-moderate. Notably Ren hits Gedo in the knee with the push-up bar to set up the Figure Four.

  • If you like the Finlay/Hiromu team, this was still a fun one to watch despite the Shenanigans.

  • Post match, Ren gets a bar shot in to Finlay and Hiromu’s gut, leaving them both crumpled on the outside.

  • After they recover, Finlay argues with referee Sakamoto and then picks him up like he’s going to hit him with a Tiger Driver or something, but shows mercy by just dropping him on the ground like a sack of potatoes. Hiromu briefly checks on the ref before leaving with Gedo and Finlay.

Hartley Jackson, Ryohei Oiwa, Zack Sabre Jr. def Katsuya Murashima, El Phantasmo, Hiroshi Tanahashi — (9:47, Death Valley Bomb)

  • Okay still no Jado, so the Bullet Club member thing was just a coincidence. I’m guessing old man Jado just didn’t want to sit on the bus for these away games.

  • After their entrances, ELP produces a pair of LED shades for Mursahima and all three faces pose with their shades.

  • Tana and ELP do their usual ab check, and ELP gets Murashima into it. Then Hartley starts showing off his bear-y nice physique, so ELP goes over and they compare tummies. They finish by bumping bellies, and all of TMDK corpse.

  • Murashima calls out Hartley to start, and gets it. Hartley vs YLs is one of the best ongoing mini-stories this year, and Murashima is one of the main focuses of it.

  • This was good, but ELP and Zack decided to go brawl in the crowd right when Murashima was getting his big hope spot against Hartley, so the crowd wasn’t giving the YL the attention he deserved.

  • Post match, Zack and ELP humorously taunt each other in the crowd. Meanwhile in the ring, Oiwa and Tana briefly have a staredown.

  • As Zack gets back to the ring he runs into Tana and they have a little conversation.

  • Tana does some fanservice as he leaves, this was his last match in Aomori.

WTL 2025 A Block: War Dragons (Drilla Moloney, Shingo Takagi) (2 points) def Chase Owens, Yujiro Takahashi (0 points) (point totals prior to today’s results) — (9:55, WAR DRAGON)

  • HoT attack while Drilla and Shingo are posing at the top of the ramp. After a brief outside brawl, Yujiro brings Shingo into the ring.

  • HoT Shenanigans level: mild.

  • Post match, Drilla steals Chase’s branding iron and poses with it a couple times, then finally drops it on the ramp as he’s leaving.

  • Yujiro and Chase might be essentially mathematically eliminated now, I’ll check the math once the show is over. ETA: Yeah they’re basically out because their ceiling is 6 and two of the teams who hit 6 tonight already beat them. So their only hope is a tie situation which realistically isn’t going to happen.

  • Next Block Matches (2nd): War Dragons vs Taichi/Koji, Yuj/Chase vs Yano/Oleg

WTL 2025 A Block: Don Fale, EVIL (4 points) def Satoshi Kojima, Taichi (2 points) — (9:17, EVIL)

  • Taichi comes out singing as usual, but Kojima is nowhere to be seen. Once Taichi is in the ring EVIL and Fale pull Kojima out the curtain and continue beating him up.

  • Fale gets in the ring to beat up Taichi and the bell rings to start.

  • HoT Shenanigans level: moderate. EVIL played the hits. In the closing moments, EVIL yelled for someone to come down the ramp so Taichi went up to intercept them, but Nobu came in through the crowd to Mist Koji.

  • Post match, Taichi argues with the ref and then gets a chair to attack Nobu but is held back by YL. He still does some fanservice as he leaves.

  • Next Block Matches: EVIL/Fale vs Bishamon, Taichi/Koji vs War Dragons

WTL 2025 A Block: Shuji Ishikawa, El Desperado (4 points) def Bishamon (YOSHI-HASHI, Hirooki Goto) (4 points) — (10:35, Giant Slam)

  • Matsumoto again is in Bishamon’s corner but didn’t come out with them.

  • Despe’s back to having the lower back tape. He starts with YH.

  • This was pretty good. I think it’s funny that Despe’s team gets to win but Despe himself still isn’t allowed to pin the majority of the heavyweights.

  • Post match, Despe comes in to celebrate with Shuji, while Goto comes in to help YH. Nothing more of note.

  • Next Block Matches: Despe/Shuji vs Tsuji/Gabe, Bishamon vs EVIL/Fale

WTL 2025 A Block: Gabe Kidd, Yota Tsuji (4 points) def Boltin Oleg, Toru Yano (4 points) — (16:02, WAR BLASTER)

  • Still bomber Tsuji. I actually think it might be dependent on whether or not he likes the venue? Because IIRC the one time he wore the good coat it was a bigger venue with the house lights dimmed.

  • Oleg and Gabe start.

  • This was pretty good for what it was. Personally I’m just kind of over Gabe’s schtick and the Yano/Oleg combo wasn’t going to make up for that.

  • Gabe cuts a less cringe but more swear-filled victory promo; where he goes over his history in the tourney and says they’ll win this one.

  • He passes mic to Tsuji, teasing him in Japanese for his Honma voice. Tsuji reveals his voice is (pretty much) back to normal, and the crowd cheers. He says to Gabe that Gabe’s long overdue for a WTL win, Gabe says in Japanese that he doesn’t understand Japanese. Tsuji passes the mic back to Gabe to finish us off.

  • Gabe: “Well, I’ve just gone one more thing to say. If you’re not fucking with us, then suck your fucking mum. I-jo.”

  • Next Block Matches: Tsuji/Gabe vs Despe/Shuji, Yano/Oleg vs Yuj/Chase
