Long story short, the job I'm currently doing has much better potential in other countries. Even going back to my home country would eventually ensure a higher salary. I'm only staying here because I'm used to it and have a Japanese wife (no kids yet). Wife has recently been voicing concerns that the Japanese educational system is best to be avoided for any future hafu kids and that international schools are prohibitively expensive (not unaffordable, but expensive enough to consider relocating). I'm currently in a position to get PR/Naturalize, even with the upcoming restrictions, but recently began wondering whether it's worth sticking around in light of the recent political climate.
It's clear that the government is pandering for votes and the average Japanese simply does not want us here. My job is such that most RW net uyoku would also accept that I'm needed here (will not go into specifics). In fact so much that METI/MEXT, as recently as last week, held a large event to import even more such professionals just last week, blatantly flying in the face of current political ideology. However, I will be hit with the upcoming restrictions all the same. The winds are telling me to get PR or something equivalent and just leave. The wife is supportive and will go with me.
Want to know what others are thinking in this uncertain political climate. Do you expect it all to blow over? Remember that the current government is extremely unstable and any disagreement between Ishin and the LDP will result in collapse. Are you considering moving out to better pastures?
