Video Editing industry in Japan?

TLDR: If you work in TV/film post-production or video editing in some other capactiy, I'd love to hear about your experience/understanding of the industry in Japan.

– What's the industry like overall?
– Which is the most preferred NLE in the film/TV world there?
– How is the pay compared to Canada/USA?
– Are there any particular cities/areas where work is more in demand?

I've been working as a video editor between Toronto & Montreal for ~7 years now. I edit behind-the-scenes and general social media content for narrative TV and occasionally documentary film. At the moment I make around $65k CAD. I've got a pretty solid portfolio of work at this point having created a ton of content for a few of Canada's most popular comedy series of the last decade. I've been casually learning Japanese as a hobbie for a while, and regardless of whether I do try and make a move, I've decided to take learning more seriously and enroll in some courses in my area mostly so I can have people to practice with regularly. Definitely would not pass a formal language test at the moment.

I'm well aware of how impossible this might be, but I'm optimistic and am going to keep practicing the language either way. Just curious what anyone's thoughts/insights might be!
