Wolf watch: present
Katsuya Murashima, El Phantasmo[w/Jado], Hiroshi Tanahashi def Zane Jay, Monster Sauce (Alex Zayne, Lance Archer) — (8:26, Boston Crab)
-
ZJhas red tape on his right wrist and black on his left, to match his new wrestling fathers Monster Sauce.
-
Jado is back from his semi-random absence. Everyone has their own pair of glasses today. Tana spent his day off getting tanner than the turkey I had for Thanksgiving.
-
ZJ steps up and politely asks Tanahashi-san to start with him, Tana obliges.
-
ELP and Zayne did some air guitar comedy.
-
Post match, Murashima gets a hug from his wrestle dad and weird uncle, while ZJ gets helped out of the ring and to the back by his current wrestle dads.
-
There’s a fan in the front row who has flowers for Tana, ELP notices it and makes sure Tana goes to accept them as they’re leaving. (ELP probably got told off for this because I believe accepting gifts during the show like this is something they’re not supposed to do.)
Yoshinobu Kanemaru, SANADA[t-shirt version], Ren Narita def Jakob Austin Young, Callum Newman, Great-O-Khan — (5:13, DQ [Guererro spot; low blow version])
-
Nobu gets a good reaction because we’re in his home prefecture.
-
HoT attack immediately after GOK‘s entrance announcement. SANADA and Ren keep Callum in the ring, after some double teaming REN’s booted out so SANADA is legal.
-
HoT Shenanigans level: light-moderate. SANADA loves the Eddie Guerrero “fake that my opponent did something that will get them DQed” spot, but at least he’s creative with it.
-
Post match, an angry JAY briefly argues with the ref.
-
Nobu gets a couple extra hits in on Callum with the turnbuckle pad.
-
Ok the outside Callum grabs SANADA’s guitar and threatens to break it, but leaves it at ringside for SANADA to retrieve.
Kosei Fujita, Hartley Jackson, Ryohei Oiwa def Daiki Nagai, Knock Out Brothers (OSKAR, Yuto-Ice) — (9:59, Boston Crab)
-
After the entrances, Nagai steps up and starts shoving/talking shit to Fujita. Fujita laughs at him, but does start the match with Nagai.
-
This was fun and worth watching.
-
Bomboclaat level: 0.5
-
Post match, Fujita keeps the Crab on until the YL come in to remove him.
-
Yuto goes over to Japanese commentary to talk smack, then over to Oiwa and tells him he can get in a free punch to Ice’s jaw. Oiwa refuses, Ice snarks at the camera about it.
-
K.O.B leave. Oiwa leaves, while Hartley and Fujita stay in the ring. Nagai gets in Fujita’s face again and gets beat up for it; while Hartley watches.
-
Fujita and Hartley get their hands raised and wonder where Oiwa went (I think he just legit got confused and left early).
Gedo, Hiromu Takahashi, David Finlay def Shoma Kato, Yuya Uemura, Shota Umino — (5:24, Canadian Hammer)
-
Still no kneepads for Kato. Shota and Yuya do some fanservice on their way to the ring.
-
Are Hiromu and Finlay getting along yet?: Kind of?
-
Post entrances, Finlay goes over and casually gets in Shota’s face for a moment.
-
Kato steps up, seemingly to Finlay, but and ends up getting Gedo instead as a starting partner. In a flashback to SJTL, Hiromu immediately steps in for double teams.
-
This was fine.
-
Post match, Yuya and Shota both get shit talked to by Finlay. Hiromu steps in to ease the tension, teasing that maybe he’s against Finlay, but then turns around and he and Finlay both antagonize Yuya and Shota.
WTL 2025 A Block: Boltin Oleg, Toru Yano (4 points) def Chase Owens, Yujiro Takahashi (0 points) (point totals prior to today’s results) — (8:47, Kamikaze)
-
Oleg’s right shoulder and knee are still taped.
-
HoT attack in the closing seconds of Yano’s entrance. They double team Oleg in the ring, but get knocked down by a clothesline. Yano gets tagged in, after a minute Chase gets control and Yujiro leaves the ring.
-
HoT Shenanigans level: moderate.
-
Post match, Yujiro comes in to help Chase out of the ring.
-
Next Block Matches (5th): Yano/Oleg vs War Dragons, Yuj/Chase vs Taichi/Koji
WTL 2025 A Block: Bishamon (YOSHI-HASHI, Hirooki Goto) (4 points) def Don Fale, EVIL (6 points) — (9:34, Itadakikari)
-
Matsumoto is yet again in Bishamon’s corner. He still hasn’t gotten official approval to “join the Goto Revolutionary Army.”
-
The House is still Dickless.
-
HoT wait until the entrances are over to attack. After some double teaming, EVIL ends up legal with Goto.
-
HoT Shenanigans level: high. Dick pops up towards the end of the match to distract Matsumoto. SHO also appears, and gets involved in-ring unlike Dick.
-
Post match, HoT (minus Dick) attack YH until Goto and Matsumoto come in and even the odds with low blows. They do a back-to-back Avengers pose and the crowd oooohs.
-
Next Block Matches: Bishamon vs Tsuji/Gabe, EVIL/Don vs Despe/Shuji
WTL 2025 A Block: Gabe Kidd, Yota Tsuji (6 points) def Shuji Ishikawa, El Desperado (6 points) — (17:15, Gene Blaster)
-
Tsuji has his good jacket and hat, and this is a venue that has the house lights turned down; so yeah, I think the bomber jacket/t-shirt stuff is him throwing a tantrum over venues with lighting he doesn’t like. Which is immensely silly and likely him trying to be like Naito without understanding the subtleties that made Naito endearing instead of a whiny baby.
-
Gabe immediately starts putting chairs in the ring. Meanwhile Despe gets in Tsuji’s face a little.
-
Gabe brings in a chair but just like last show, Tsuji takes it away from him and says we don’t do that stuff here. After Gabe is subdued,Tsuji starts with Shuji.
-
Gabe, Despe, and Shuji did end up starting to get hardcore; Tsuji did not partake and continued to try and stop Gabe. Gabe ended up getting Giant Drivered through a table (and blading).
-
Post match, Gabe and Tsuji have a little bit of a disagreement; and Gabe leaves Tsuji in the ring. Tsuji stops to look disapprovingly at the broken table before leaving.
-
Next Block Matches: Tsuji/Gabe vs Bishamon, Despe/Shuji vs EVIL/Don
WTL 2025 A Block: War Dragons (Drilla Moloney, Shingo Takagi) (4 points) def Satoshi Kojima, Taichi (2 points) — (21:17, Burning Dragon)
-
Shingo is also from Yamanashi, so extra over today. His right elbow is still taped up, as is Drilla’s left elbow/bicep.
-
Drilla calls out Taichi to start and gets it.
-
This was just as good as you’d expect.
-
Taichi/Koji loss has essentially eliminated them, as their ceiling is 6 points and they’ve already lost to two+ teams at 6.
-
Post match, Shingo crawls over to say a few words to Koji and clasp his hand. Taichi then comes in to help Kojima leave.
-
Shingo gets a mic: “Kojima san, please wait. (Koji and Taichi wait at ringside) Thinking back, it was here in Aimesse Yamanashi that I wrestled you first, ten years ago. I beat you tonight, but that lariat was something. That was a win worth earning, so let's go again.” (Koji and Taichi start to leave.) “You all might not believe it, but he's 55! That's a model I want to aim for. Taichi, you too, and me, we're all north of 40, all veterans, but it's because of us that this ring is red hot. Anytime.” (from ringside, Taichi mentions to Shingo that today is his 23 year anniversary) “Taichi debuted 23 years ago today, give him a chant.” (There’s a light Taichi chant as he and Kojima leave.)
-
“Now then, Takagi and Moloney's big win has 'kita kita kita!' Let me introduce you to (switches to English) 'nice my friend' Drilla Moloney!”
-
Drilla, in Japanese: “Sorry only a little Japanese, but thank you all. Shingo Takagi is the most famous man in Yamanashi, right?” He starts a Takagi chant and then does the “War Dragons kita kita kita” bit before handing the mic back to Shingo.
-
Shingo: “Now we're 3-2 so we still have a chance and we still want to be in the Tokyo Dome. That place is going to be sold out and we aren't booked! The Yamanashi sightseeing ambassador not booked? That can't happen. So we have to win this! Now I heard from someone in staff that NJPW's return to Yamanashi is in the books, a Sunday in March, so make sure you tell a friend tell your family and tell everyone that me and Drilla Moloney will bring the fire for the rest of World Tag League!”
