[Spoilers] World Tag League 2025: Night Eight (11/30) – B Block

Wolf watch: absent

Yoshinobu Kanemaru, Chase Owens, Yujiro Takahashi def Katsuya Murashima, Boltin Oleg, Toru Yano — (6:04, Pimp Juice)

  • HoT strike during Yano’s entrance announcement. They brawl on the outside, during which Chase drags Oleg all the way out to the lobby. After a minute or two Yujiro brings Yano back to the ring to start.

  • HoT Shenanigans level: mild.

  • Post match, Oleg gets on the apron and Chase comes over to talk a little smack, but almost immediately gets bapped on the shoulders and steps back. Everyone leaves without further incident.

Dick Togo SHO, Don Fale, EVIL def Tatsuya Matsumoto, Bishamon (YOSHI-HASHI, Hirooki Goto) — (7:08, pinfall [after a wrench shot])

  • On Twitter, Dick and EVIL both teased that maybe Dick just wouldn’t show up for the show tonight. Sure enough, Dick doesn’t come with HoT… but SHO does.

  • SHO promo: “You thought Togo would come to a place like Akita? No way! This dirt poor town. You people call yourselves Bishamon? What a pair of weaklings compared to these gods of war here! We'll tear you apart!” Then they jump the faces.

  • YH is left to be briefly multi-teamed, with SHO ending up legal for HoT when the bell finally rings to start.

  • HoT Shenanigans level: light-moderate. Wrench was involved in the lead up to the finish.

  • Post match, SHO gives Matsumoto a couple light stomps and nudges him out of the ring. Bishamon briefly have a staredown with EVIL and Don from the outside.

Gedo, Gabe Kidd, Yota Tsuji def Shoma Kato, Shuji Ishikawa, El Desperado — (8:12, Seventeen Cross)

  • Still no kneepads for Kato.

  • We’ve downgraded even further to t-shirt Tsuji.

  • Despe and Gabe squat across from each other, then start talking shit and stand up yo shove each other. They separate to their respective corners so the bell to ring and they can properly start.

  • This was pretty good. Despe’s one of the guys who can make me like a Gabe Kidd match in 2025.

  • Post match, Gabe throws two chairs in the ring and Despe and Shuji pick them up while Gabe comes back in with a third. Tsuji steps in and pushes Gabe back and takes the chair from him. He says this is NJPW, we don’t do stuff like that here.

  • Despe gets a little snarky in response; and Gabe taunts he and Shuji to hit him anyways, then says loudly “Hardcore fight, onegaishimasu (please)!” Before leaving the ring.

Daiki Nagai, Drilla Moloney, Shingo Takagi def Zane Jay, Masatora Yasuda, Taichi — (6:45, Boston Crab [with some extra stank on it])

  • Yasuda has found or re-earned his kneepads; his left knee is still taped up. After the entrances he holds his clasped hands up to his chest and prays before putting one fist on his heart and looking to the sky. AFAIK he hasn’t publicly disclosed what’s made him so emotional. (I also haven’t noticed him do this before now but it may have been something I missed in recent days.)

  • Taichi steps up to start with Shingo.

  • This was fine for a match with three YL in it.

  • Post match, Shingo steps on Zane for a minute. Taichi gets in the ring to talk shit to Shingo and Drilla, but that’s the extent of it. Drilla throws his ice pack at Zane on the outside.

WTL 2025 B Block: Yuya Uemura, Shota Umino (2 points) def Monster Sauce (Alex Zayne, Lance Archer) (4 points) (point totals prior to today’s results) — (14:10, Deadbolt Suplex Hold)

  • We’ve got the more serious Shota and Yuya today. They’ve weirdly been pushing this match as being them defending NJPW from AEW; but Monster Sauce haven’t acknowledged it at all (and Zayne is not signed to any TK property anyways).

  • Archer calls out Shota to start.

  • This was pretty good. Yuya getting the pin breaks the streak of Shota being the only one involved in finishes; that kind of streak lasting all of a past WTL had been a subtle sign of an upcoming turn.

  • Post match, Archer gets in the ring to help out Zayne and Shota comes in to help Yuya. Archer offers a fist bump, Shota returns it and nods. Once they’re all standing again Shota goes over to give Zayne a fist bump. (Yeah none of that gels with the anti-AEW stuff Shota and Yuya were pushing.)

  • Shota and Yuya celebrate, though Yuya seems a little bit withdrawn.

  • They both do fanservice as they leave, with Shota going out into the crowd.

  • Next Block Matches (3rd): Shota/Yuya vs Fin/Hiromu, Monster Sauce vs Tana/ELP

WTL 2025 B Block: Knock Out Brothers (OSKAR, Yuto-Ice) (2 points) def Callum Newman, Great-O-Khan[w/JAY] (4 points) — (12:18, K.O.B)

  • During K.O.B’s entrance, Callum slides out of the ring to attack Yuto. This starts a brief outside/crowd brawl, until Callum brings Yuto back to the ring.

  • Very good. Yuto and Callum exchanging kicks was great, GOK managed to get big OSKAR up in a torture rack position.

  • Bomboclaat level: 2

  • Post match, Yuto kneels over GOK and condescendingly pats him on the chest. JAY helps GOK out of the ring and to the back, Callum gets up on the apron to butt foreheads and talk shit with Yuto.

  • Next Block Matches: K.O.B vs ZSJ/Oiwa, Callum/GOK vs Ren/SANADA

WTL 2025 B Block: SANADA[beach day version], Ren Narita (4 points) def Hiromu Takahashi, David Finlay[w/Gedo] (4 points) — (14:02, Hell’s Guillotine)

  • Are Finlay and Hiromu getting along yet? No, but slightly less no.

  • They are on the same page enough to stop at ringside to shed their jackets and slide in to attack HoT, instead of making their full entrance.

  • The bell rings but there’s a bunch of 2-on-2 action, then SHO and Nobu run out to distract and we get an outside brawl; during which Finlay gets handcuffed to the guardrail, and SHO and Nobu abscond with Gedo.

  • Eventually SANADA brings Hiromu back in to be the first undisputedly legal men.

  • A few minutes later Hiromu and Finlay get Nagai, who didn’t come out with them but was in their corner, to go backstage to try and find the key. A few minutes after that, Gedo appears from backstage beating up Nobu and SHO and holding the key; and frees Finlay.

  • HoT Shenanigans level: high.

  • Post match, Nagai and Finlay help Hiromu leave.

  • Next Block Matches: Ren/SANADA vs Callum/GOK, Fin/Hiromu vs Shota/Yuya

WTL 2025 B Block: El Phantasmo, Hiroshi Tanahashi (0 points) def Ryohei Oiwa, Zack Sabre Jr.[w/Hartley Jackson] (4 points) — (22:10, High Fly Flow [after a CRII])

  • Still no Jado. ELP does some fanservice during his entrance.

  • Post entrances, ELP tries to get the “E-L-P” chant going but it doesn’t take, then they kind of do a competing ELP/Tanahashi chant.

  • When they’re done with that, ELP starts with Zack. Tana gets an ELP chant going, but it only lasts for a minute. ELP tries to get a “Zed Ess Jay” chant going, which is definitely not happening in any town other than Osaka or Tokyo.

  • Quite good, as you’d expect. Big pop for Tana winning.

  • Post match, ELP celebrates with Tana. Oiwa has a staredown with Tana and they exchange some words, before he drops back to the mat and Zack helps him out of the ring.

  • ELP gets the mic. In Japanese: “Thank you Akita. It's hot! I'm worn out. I am ELP, sorry for my bad Japanese. This was Tana's last Akita match, so please chant!” [He gets an off-beat “Go Ace” chant going, then hands the mic to Tana.]

  • Tana, while crying: “Everyone, thank you for your support to the end. Just like ELP said, this was my last chance to wrestle in Akita. It's too early to cry. Thanks for your support.” [ELP gets a towel from a fan and wipes Tana’s tears] “But NJPW isn't stopping. We're waiting for January 4 in the Tokyo Dome! I have a dream, like NJPW vs UWF, like Inoki's retirement, to surpass those and sell out that building! January 4, January 4 January 4!” [the crowd briefly chants “January 4th” along with him]

  • Then he and ELP do the air guitar bit together; then ELP heads out into the crowd to hype Tana up. Tana air guitars alone for a bit before getting the mic back to finish us off correctly:

  • “Thank you for staying around for the full course there! I promise you, as President, I will give my absolute all to keep NJPW at its best. Thank you and finally Akita- Aishitemasu!”

  • They both do fanservice before leaving.

  • Next Block Matches: Tana/ELP vs Monster Sauce, ZSJ/Oiwa vs K.O.B
