Okinawa locals, where would you stay for wildlife + culture?

Hi everyone!
I’m planning a trip to Okinawa at the end of February and could really use some insight from people who live there. 🙂

I really want to see wildlife — especially birds and the fruit batties — and I’ve read that you can spot humpback whales around that time too! I’d love to join a wildlife or nature tour while I’m there, so if anyone has recommendations, please let me know.

I also want to visit the Pokémon Center and the Prefectural Museum, which I know are down south. But I’m struggling to decide whether I should base myself in Naha or stay further north around places like Nago. If you have any thoughts or opinions on which area makes the most sense, I’d really appreciate it!

Any personal recommendations are welcome too — I’d love to learn more about Okinawan culture and history 🙂
