Hello, I am looking for guidance towards obtaining an affidavit for marriage or proving I haven’t been married since the U.S. no longer notarizes this information. My partner and I went to the ward office today to ask about what documents we needed for marriage, and we were told that I need proof I haven’t been married. I showed them the official statement from the U.S., however they wouldn’t accept that and said I needed proof and to contact my home state of NC. I’m pretty sure my state doesn’t provide any documents related to this so I’m not sure where to go from here! I was wondering if I could write a self statement declaring that I’m single and have it notarized at the embassy, but I’m not sure my ward office would accept it. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
