I did just want to make this post because of various shitty Tweets I've seen directed at or about Yuto-ICE ever since he returned from excursion about him saying the word "bomboclaat".
Yuto like OSKAR had an excursion in the UK and we have quite a sizeable Jamaican community, and the influence of Jamaica and the Caribbean as a whole can be felt in the UK from food to music. Reggae in particular has always had a massive influence over the UK music scene from hip-hop to drum and bass to punk.
This is likely how Yuto learned the word "bomboclaat" and why he now uses the word as a rather nondescript "fuck you".
I've yet to see one single Jamaican person raise concerns about this and I decided to ask the two Jamacian families who live on my street whether they cared about non-Jamacian people using slang that originated with Jamacian people and unsurprisingly neither did. It just stinks of "white guy from Ohio is here to speak up".
I think people need to start figuring out that life is a lot less black-and-white than they think. There's kind of a serious scale between saying "bomboclaat" after being in the UK for a long time and saying the fucking N-word. I hesitate to say "it's just a word" because that's what dickheads use to justify their white arse saying racial slurs. The only thing I can say is that Jamaican culture is heavily ingrained within UK culture at this point and as a Brit born and raised, one of the few things I can still be proud of about the place is the multiculturalism.
So, yeah, please stop giving Yuto shit about this.
