Hi everyone. I’m a 30M from Canada and I’m planning to move to Japan permanently. I’m currently leaving an emotionally abusive relationship and don’t really have family here, so I’m trying to start fresh somewhere I actually connected with—Japan. I visited for 3 weeks last year and loved it.
I’m looking for advice on jobs and affordable places to stay.
My background is in Architectural Technology/BIM (7 years experience), but I don’t want to continue that career in Japan. I’m more interested in:
Restaurant/bar work (I have some experience and enjoy meeting people)
Tattooing (I’ve been learning and tattooing for about a year and want to pursue it seriously)
The problem is most job sites are either English-teaching jobs (not for me) or niche IT positions. I’m not sure how to find service industry or tattoo-related work that could lead to a visa.
If anyone has advice, tips, or connections, I’d be super grateful. Any guidance on visas, job-hunting, or where to start would help a lot.
Thanks!
