I’ve been living with long covid (or post covid syndrome) since early 2023, which triggered autonomic nervous system issues and Tertiery adrenal insufficiency. For the latter I’m medicated, and it has made a huge difference but I’d like to be more functional especially during the hot and humid summer months which triggers dysautonomia symptoms.
Recently I was able to make a trip back home and made an out of pocket visit to a rheumatologist who mostly agreed with my local rheumatologist’s findings, however she strongly advised me to get into contact with a neurologist and get an intramuscular EMG. (I also got my Novavax as soon as I returned back to Japan)
I need to find a new neurologist as I had a terrible experience with the one I saw in 2024 who ridiculed and gaslit me.
I realize I have to talk to a small clinic first and get a referral to a 総合病院 (general hospital) to get EMG. The doctor in my home country also told me that the skills of the person who performs the EMG is critical in getting actual results. I’ll actually ask my long covid clinic first to see if they can do a referral and if they can’t refer patients to a neurology department then I need to find a neurology clinic again.
Does anyone have any personal experience getting EMG at the neurology department at a general hospital? I hope to have fruitful results and maybe get real medication that helps my symptoms besides the usual “drink electrolytes and water” advice. My symptoms are pretty disabling in summer time and I’m concerned about that.
