Visitation Rights of your Child

Hello,

I was married and divorced from a Japanese woman around 10 years ago. From our short marriage, we produced a child. Up until a few years ago, I was able to see my daughter almost every month. However, since she started school, my ex-wife has become more and more …. distant when it comes to visitations.

One of her reasons was the governmental assistance she gets as a single mother for raising out daughter. Yes, I pay child support each month to help out myself. She keeps saying that "No, you can't come and visit for XYZ." where she claims that the Japanese government will stop providing her support if I am seen visiting her.

I am 90% sure this is bullspit and am thinking of seeking legal assistance to have visitation rights of my daughter. I know Japan is still YEARs behind the rest of the world for duel parentage/duel custody and I have heard something about the 2026 duel custody law coming into law. I was wondering if I should start a proceeding to where I can sue/file for duel custody of my daughter.

I know, this sounds rambling as I have been down tonight after another ….. denial of xyz from my ex dealing with visiting my daughter.
