Hi everyone,
I am currently a master's student at a well-known university (Top 20 in the QS World University Rankings 2026), studying agricultural sciences.
I plan to also get my PhD in agricultural sciences at the current institution I am at and pursue a post-doc in Japan. My ideal goal would be to, at some point, settle down in Japan (Permanent Resident) through the Highly Skilled Professional (HSP) Visa pathway.
I would hope to be in the Research & Development sector in Japan, whether that be at a university or an institution like NARO (National Agriculture and Food Research Organization).
While this may be seen as a silly question to ask others, do you think this is a pipeline dream to have?
By the time I graduate, I hope to be around N2 level. However, before I fully commit to the work that it will take to get there, I wanted to ask others for their opinions.
Happy to provide any additional clarifying information to recieve best advice for my situation.
