Preface I’m a 24 year old living in Japan on a spousal visa. I have a son and my Japanese wife does not work and is a stay at home mom. I’ve been shopping around for a nice used car that I’d like to purchase here in Japan. The price is anywhere from about 5-10 million yen, depending on how much I want to spend. For context I’m looking for an American muscle car, which I’m not sure if that would affect anything .
My question is- has anyone had any luck securing a car loan here in Japan as a foreigner not working for a Japanese company? I am full remote and get paid USD, sending to a Japanese shared bank account. In case it matters I make roughly about ¥850,000 per month, and my wife has no income. I’ve bought three cars here (two American imported muscles cars) in cash but am considering a loan for a car I want instead of forking up that amount in cash. Thanks for any insight in advance!
