Hello everyone,
First time posting/asking. Pretty much have been scrolling this group and other resources in the past week and a half or so, while I stayed in the hospital for cholecystitis.
Had a horrible night on December 3rd/4th, filled with pain, vomiting, body contortions, loads of blood tests, and needle stabbings for that and IV fluid/medicine, the longest fast of my life, CT scans, endoscopy, a diagnosis a few days after my admission, a PTGBA (Percutaneous Transhepatic Gallbladder Aspiration) to get rid of the bile in the gallbladder, more tests and was finally discharged last Friday.
But, the doctor said I need to remove my gallbladder, anywhere from 1 to 2 months from now (he said we had to wait for the inflammation to heal). The thing is, my Japanese skills are not good at all and communication was difficult in that period (most of it was OK, as Google Translate also helped, but I was super worried and a bit scared during the PTGBA procedure), even though all the staff was kind and helpful.
So, I was wondering if people could share their experiences having the surgery in Japan, more specifically in Tokyo or Kanagawa (I live in Kawasaki). I'm worried about communication, pain management, and costs as well. The surgeon in the hospital spoke some English (I had an appointment with him before being discharged) and there was one nurse with perfect English, but I'm afraid I won't be able to say what I need in case I can't reach Google Translate and if the nurse is not around.
Any hospital/doctor recommendation will be appreciated!
I also asked it in the Gallbladder group 🙂
