Smart home heating integration?

Hi
Renovating our house in Hokkaido and recently got into home assistant. Anyone have experience with floor heating integration? Did a bit of research and learned smart thermostats are not a thing so looking to set sth up that works without cloud via home assistant. Main issue is how to control heating without using Panasonic proprietary cloud apps since want to use local control. Looking into Shelly or other smart relays but interested to hear if anyone has sth up and running

  1. I did a renovation for a house this year, the owner wanted floor heating but the power wasn’t enough. So we had to connect another power box separate from the main house one and another breaker box just for the flooring.

Maybe start with that first, if you have enough power, what rooms and how much amps it will take.

  2. Look up IOT. My first thought is to remove the panasonic board and replace it with a board thats able to communicate with your home device. But thats depended on your setup and your ability.

  3. I’d post about this in r/homeassistant

I’ve personally never dealt with floor heating but I’ve done plenty of zigbee / zwave integrations. I’d look for a controller that uses one of those and grab yourself a USB zigbee or zwave controller to use with home assistant.

Or you can find a WiFi heated floor controller that’s compatible.
