Hello everyone, I’m in a bit of a bad situation. I got into business with a Japanese Japanese company, I bought a used car from them and ship it outside japan. I paid money for the car and shipping,¥1 800 000. I also send another car to this company’s yard. It was going to be shipped together with the recently bought car in a container. However when I saw the car they were trying to sell me I realized that it was accident damaged and the price had been inflated. I refused to accept the car and requested for a cancellation of the deal and a refund. The company initially agreed but days later said that they could only give me back 40% of my money. I tried to get the other car I sent to the company’s yard but they refused to give it to me. I went to the police and they said that they couldn’t do anything. I talked to a lawyer and he said that the police should help in taking out the car. The lawyer said he would help with the recovery of the money as it sounds like a civil case, however, he had a big case load. I met 3 other lawyers and they all couldn’t help. I went to the police 3 more times, same result. I went to the consumer affairs agency and they said they couldn’t get involved as this was about used cars.
Maybe someone here has been in a similar situation, where can i go for help? Does anyone know a lawyer in Tokyo who can help me with this. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
