I’m a little surprised there’s no ‘special singles match’ on the undercard. Unless they just sneak one in.
Feels like they’re missing a big match or two…
No KOB is insane
They did the right thing by having Tana / Okada go on last.
Tana is definitely entering last. His entrance needs to top what Muto had in the Dome.
Surely shota and yuya make the card. For shota to go from last years main event to unsure if he’ll even get a match doesn’t look good when meant to be building for the future
This is probably not the full card but like other people have said no Shota, Yuya, Knockout Brothers, TMDK besides Fujita is wild.
Absolutely the correct choice of main event, but man, what an utterly bizarre card. No Global Title match is one thing, but no Junior Title (I at least like the kayfabe explanation that DOUKI is traumatised by his injury last year and wants to avoid the Tokyo Dome, but we all know he deserved redemption and to actually get a proper match) or Tag Titles is crazy. Some of the heaviest hitters from the past year are just absent. Still a much better card than last year, though.
Unless the top two matches are going like 50 mins each there’s no way there’s not more to add.
Maybe they need the extra time so Tana can hug everyone in attendance.
They could all appear in the trios match in some capacity, but Shota, Yuya, Goto, Zack, Oiwa, Narita, Boltin, KOB, none of them being included in big time matches… WOW.
I hope the United Empire members are Boltin and someone else.
Have been out of the loop with New Japan for a couple years, but do they usually add more matches on the road to shows? From memory their cards are usually fairly set earlier on and if so this seems like a really short card, especially since Kaisei is going to be part of the Rambo.
From double main event winner and two time champ to filling up the 6 man gauntlet for Zack.
Record breaking title run to filling up the gauntlet for Goto
Although a failure, Umino went from main eventing to perhaps nothing. Hopefully a singles match vs Uemura.
A number one contender match for the Junior belt making the show. but not a match for the actual title is crazy.
Thank god they didn’t “Rock-Hogan” this one. Tanahashi is the main event. Now we see if they go the Cena route or the Sting route.
I am concerned about how many of the hopeful future players have been relegated to the Ranbo. Could be wrong, but it’s unlikely that lapsed or new fans tuning in will view those guys as important enough to stick around for.
It puts so much pressure on Wolf and Tsuji.
If Tusji dosen’t win then wasting your biggest crowd ever to get over a part time guy and Wolf who might no pan out is actually moronic.
Worst card for a Wrestle Kingdom in ages, maybe ever (at least as Wrestle Kingdom). Sure, they’ve sold out the Dome for the first time since the 90s, but if anything that should have been an opportunity to put on a generational card showcasing the best you’ve got to offer, like Stardom (your own subsidiary) did for their biggest card ever last April.
Instead, you’re putting on a card that inexplicably has no Jr. Title matches, no main tag title match for the second year in a row (and this time is worse cause January 5th won’t even be another Dome event but rather an Ota Ward NYD), guys like Boltin, Yuto, Oskar, Umino, Uemura, Oiwa and specially Goto and Sabre Jr all missing the event altogether unless they are in the 6-man title Rambo (which is a huge disservice to most if not all of them) while others like Gabe, Shingo, Newman or Finlay, who could and probably should have a marquee tag or singles bout, are relegated to a thrown-in faction tag that should just be Finlay vs Callum. And the women’s match, featuring two of the best women you can have on the card, is at possibly the worst spot possible, following a Rambo that will be at least 15-20 minutes long and preceeding two matches it should be ahead of. I trust both Syuri and Saya-sama to pull a banger if they get more than 10 minutes, but even then they it feels a disservice to both, specially after promoting Kamitani being on the card so much.
Overall, it’s still a day to celebrate New Japan and Tanahashi in his final go around, but at the time it feels yet another missed opportunity from Gedo and Tanahashi himself to capitalize on the night they’ll have the most eyes on since even before their 2010s boom, specially domestically. Which is ironically a great representation of many of the company’s decisions this decade: good, many times great, but it could be top tier if given enough love.
I hope tanahashi uses high energy for his entrance.
Where’s the rest of the card? That can’t be it. No Kidd, ZSJ, Shota, Uemura or Goto matches? Half the titles not being defended?
Gedo has lost it if that really is the whole card.
Man that card looks kinda shit IMO.
No juniors title defense is wild to me. They couldn’t set up anything for a match?
Haven’t been following as much as of late, but how come JR title matches douki double champ so when I missed one defense, I assumed it’s cause he was defending the other. What happened?
This is the weirdest card I’ve ever seen seen at the Dome. No Jr tag? No Jr title? No tag titles? A random 4 way for the jr title #1 contenders? What in the world is this?…..
Saya vs Syuri going on 2nd. 60 minute time limit.
Over/under 10 minutes.
I expected them to book a bad card but I didn’t think it would be *that* bad. Completely missing the opportunity they had with that sold out Tokyo Dome.
No Junior Heavyweight or Heavyweight Tag Title match is a joke, man.
Nothing for Umino or Uemura? What the fuck? Insane lack of faith NJPW has in them.
Outside of 4 matches this card is pretty sad. And a waste of a 50K attendance to showcase the next generation of talent in a meaningful way.
Some wild omissions from this card.
No Tag titles, Jr tag titles, or Jr heavyweight title. No KOB, ZSJ, Goto, Umino or Yuya. Sticking everyone in the Rambo isn’t the answer. Tana gifted you 50k on his way out and you didn’t take advantage of the opportunity
Is Tsuji fucked?
Need whatever Gedo smoked to come up with such a diabolical card. Tana/ Okada is basically gonna be like 1 hour and a half.
I’m really surprised this card is so light on matches. I expected at least 8 at the least.
They going to have 50000 people in attendace, and the best they can do is tag matches with no build up ? Like where is shota yuya or oiwa those are the guy that they should build the company around and, they dont even have a match and they are not even in a feud!? If yota loses im not watching next year because they are gonna enter or maybe they already in the second dark period.

Tana closing the show, as he should.
