I almost fell head first today because I was standing on the steps which were connected to a pedestrian sidewalk. It was covered with small tiles; grout lines associated with small tiles can make the step surface feel busy: Especially for people with vertigo, vision difficulties and dizziness, potentially making it harder to visually identify individual step edges and increasing the risk of tripping.
I felt myself fly on the air for a brief moment but then thankfully (?) landed on one leg, now my hip hurts because I probably injured it during landing. Better than a concussion I guess.
Even tho I knew urban design in Japan is not always disability friendly, after experiencing vertigo and dizziness myself I can first hand tell there are booby traps on the street level.
