I’ve been living in Japan for some time, but I occasionally need to access my UK bank accounts. Each time I log in, they send a verification code to a UK phone number.
Until recently, I was still receiving texts on my UK SIM, but I believe my mobile carrier has now deactivated it due to inactivity. Since most UK carriers deactivate numbers after long periods of non-use, I’m looking for a long-term solution to keep access to a UK phone number while living abroad.
I’ve heard that it’s possible to use a virtual number and still access it while in Japan. I looked into Google Voice, but it doesn’t seem to be available here, and I’m not even sure if it would work for banking verification anyway.
Has anyone had a similar issue or found a good solution? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
