Good evening everyone!
We are Indians working in Japan, our company is located in Tokyo, the CEO is also an Indian and we have one branch in India as well.
When we first joined the company they asked us to join the Indian Pesion because of Certificate of Coverage (CoC) under the Social Security Agreement India and Japan. (The main purpose being: CoC exempts employees temporarily assigned to the other country (up to an initial period of five years) from making social security contributions in the host country, provided they continue to contribute to their home country's social security system. This prevents "double coverage" and the potential forfeiture of benefits due to short-term assignments.)
So because of this a part of our salary (XX, XXX yen) is paid in India so that we can pay it towards the Indian pension. Now, starting from next year the company is planning to move us to the Japan pension (we do not have any problem with the move) but after we move to the Japan pension they are planning to not include the XX, XXX yen back to our salary(we think that that they are going to pay the employer’s share of Japan pension from our XX,XXX yen).
When we asked the management team in Japan they say that the HR in India will explain this and the revised salary structure, when we ask the Indian HR team they say the Japan team will give answers, basically we are being tossed back-and-forth between India and Japan.
The Indian HR is also saying that if we disagree to join the Japan pension we will have problems in visa renewal and the company wont be supporting us then, again we are ready to join the Japan pension, we just want to know what are they going to do with the money.
They also never reply to our messages and mails whenever we ask about the XX, XXX yen, it’s already been weeks and no body is giving us any answers. We started to collect receipts as soon as we came to know they are blocking our access to view our salary slips.
We also came to know that for some employees the health insurance is also being deducted 100% from the employee salary.
As most of us are still relatively new to working in Japan, we are not fully aware of the rules and regulations that may help us. Today we called the Labour Office and they suggested that we call the Japan pension directly, will be calling them tomorrow morning.
Has anyone been in this kind of situation? We can we do?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
