Its builder was "Osaka's Newspaper King" Hisakichi Maeda, and its designer was Tachū Naito, a graduate of the Department of Architecture at Tokyo Imperial University.
Naito, who designed many steel towers and was nicknamed the "Tower Doctor," counted Tokyo Tower as the "fifth son" among his group of works known as the "Tower Six Brothers."

What’s the orientation of this photo?
I am chuckling at the idea that a copy paste of the eiffel tower needed a ”designer”
One of my bucketlist 🥂
Something about this image seems weird, it’s like they printed a photo of the area taken from a high altitude and just put a model of Tokyo Tower on top of it. The perspectives don’t match… the buildings apparently have enough height to cast shadows but don’t look like they actually have any height at all in the photo.
Anyway congrats to Tokyo Tower for still being the coolest looking tower in Tokyo after all these years.
