Takanobaba stabbing suspect arrested: Beauty salon customer may have stabbed salon manager

According to the International Crimes Division, Zhu is suspected of attempting to murder a woman in her 30s by stabbing her in the chest, abdomen, waist, and wrist with what appeared to be a bladed object in the hallway of a second-floor apartment building in Takadanobaba 4-chome, Shinjuku Ward, at around 12:10 p.m. on the 29th. The woman, believed to be the manager of a beauty salon on the same floor, suffered serious injuries that is not life threatening. There is information that the suspect had been a customer at the salon several times since August, and the woman reportedly testified before being taken to hospital that she had been stabbed by Zhu.

The police and the First Investigation Division identified Zhu as the suspect based on the woman's description. They tracked him down using a "relay investigation" that linked security camera footage from around the city, and discovered him at a fast food restaurant in Chiba City just after 9:30 pm on the 29th. There is also information that Zhu had been in trouble at a beauty salon for unpaid bills, and the International Crimes Division is investigating whether there is any connection to the incident
