-You can often find them living at large Shinto shrines.
-In many shrines, real horses have been replaced by statues or paintings called "Ema."

  1. Kamigamo is the oldest shrine in Kyoto, it was there before Kyoto was decided as the new location for the capital. The shrine takers family returns from across the world once a year to race horses. It’s pretty cool, check it out.
