Hi everyone!
Me and two friends are planning a trip our first trip to Japan in the last two weeks of November, and we are thinking of adding Okinawa for about 3 to 4 days. Just three girls looking for a chilled break with a bit of nature and sea time, and I’d love some advice from people who have been around that time of year.
I’ve tried researching online, but I’m finding really mixed information. Some places say the beaches are closed in November, while others say you can still swim and snorkel, which is a bit confusing. I’ll be bringing a wetsuit just in case I get cold, so that part should be fine.
What we’re hoping to do:
Snorkelling and swimming
Whale shark watching, if that’s realistic
Easy hikes and nature spots
Generally a relaxed, not too rushed trip
A few questions:
Is late November actually a good time for swimming and snorkelling in Okinawa?
Are snorkelling tours still running then, and where’s best to book them from?
Klook, GetYourGuide, or local operators?
Which islands would you recommend for a short stay?
Main island vs Miyakojima vs Ishigaki or Yaeyama
What’s the easiest way to get there? Is it better to get a boat from Tokyo or Kyoto?
How easy is it to move between islands?
Where would you recommend staying, and how long per island if we only have 3 to 4 days?
Any tips, personal experiences, or recommendations would be massively appreciated. We are mainly after good snorkelling, pretty scenery and a relaxed vibe.
