After around a bit over 6 months of learning for at least 2 hours, I can finally see what I accomplished and I didn't do that much to be honest. Yesterday, I was able to hold a stable conversation about different topics with a friend for over 1 hour.
Quick breakdown, I spend around 2 hours daily imersing with youtube videos and doing Anki (currently the Kaishi 1,5k Deck with 7 new words daily) and that alone is already really usefull. Having example sentences where I can do a breakdown on the grammar and compare it to a language I understand is pure gold.
I also have a japanese Twitter account where I can read and interact in japanese which is also really fun and usefull. It also helpes with motivation because you are telling other people what you are doing which puts some kind of "preasure" on you to keep going.
Listening to a lot of japanese music is also really helpfull because sometimes one sentence sticks out and I suddenly understand it + a lot of japanese music videos have the lyrics in the video which makes it more easier to understand it.
So it doesn't really need a lot to make good progess, just motivation, fun, a goal and dedication. Don't rush it because its a marathon, not a sprint.
