Hi everyone! ππ
Iβm hoping to get some advice from people familiar with international schools in Tokyo.
Iβm currently 17, living in Asakusa, Tokyo, and recently relocated to Japan. Iβve completed the first term of Grade 11 at an English-medium university-affiliated school in the Philippines, and Iβm now exploring whether itβs possible to transfer and continue the rest of senior high school at an international school here in Tokyo.
Iβm particularly interested in:
- Strong science programs (biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science, etc.)
- English-medium instruction
- Schools that may accept Grade 11 transfer or mid-program students
- Bonus if they offer Japanese language as an elective for high school students
Some schools Iβm already considering or planning to contact include:
- The American School in Japan (ASIJ)
- Malvern College Tokyo
- International School of the Sacred Heart
I know Grade 11 transfers can be tricky, especially with IB or AP systems, so I wanted to ask:
- Has anyone successfully transferred into an international school in Tokyo at this level?
- Are there specific schools that are more transfer-friendly?
- Any advice on how admissions typically assess prior coursework?
Any insight, personal experience, or school recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much in advance! π
