Any tips for transportation for those who can’t get a valid international license?

Hi! I appreciate your attention in the first place, thank you for reading! I'm Brazilian Nikkei and I'm visiting Japan in a few months to just sort of explore the country my dad misses so much. I'll be spending most of my time in Honshu but I'm planning on visiting Okinawa's main island and staying near Naha. I read that the monorail is pretty useful but buses can be quite complicated. I'll be staying for a total of four days and I'd like to visit the Ryukyu Mura, Minna island, Kokusai Dori… But I fear I'll be limited to near-Naha locations due to transportation.

Unfortunately, by being Brazilian, I can't get a valid international driving license for Japan because Brazil follows the 1968 Vienna Convention whilst Japan only accepts licenses issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention. Basically, my alternative is to obtain a Japanese driving license, which isn't viable for a touristic short stay.

Has anyone ever been through a similar experience? Does anyone have any tips in this regard?
