Hey guys,
Lost my phone and it's looking like it won't be coming back. I'm an expat from the USA and would like to keep my USA phone number through Verizon (though I am willing to switch to another carrier like T-Mobile, Tello, etc if necessary).
I know that iphones bought from an Apple store in Japan are unlocked, but I'm curious if anyone knows for sure if they'll be compatible with USA-based carriers (IMEI compatibility) Ideally, someone already has this setup and can confirm. I would just hate to buy a new iPhone only to be told that they cannot connect it via esim because it's a Japanese model for whatever reason (different LTE bands, etc.)
My backup plan is to have a relative still living in the USA ship me one, but that obviously isn't ideal because of the cost.
Any info/advice is appreciated!
