My spouse visa expires next week. I applied for new spouse visa a few weeks ago and got the automatic two month extension. I will be traveling outside Japan next week for a couple days on business. Should I be traveling?
I have read before that foreign travel during this renewal period is:
A. Totally forbidden.
B. Can be done, but is dangerous for some reason and wildly irresponsible.
C. Can be done, but only with some special super secret re-entry paperwork (that I cannot seem to find).
D. Is totally fine, just get back in time to pick up your new visa when they alert you (my trip is for 2 days).
E. None of the above and I am an idiot.
This is my 3rd or 4th time spouse visa renewal and they previously all went smoothly.
The MOFA government website calls this a two month visa extension from the original expiration date. It does not mention anything conditional or limited about it, so I assume the visa continues to function the same during the extension period as it did prior to this extension period. But assuming gets me in trouble often, that's why I am asking.
They stamped the card on the back indicating the visa is currently under review and I got some paperwork say the same.
Sorry it got long, thanks for any help.
