I've tried to take this bus twice from two different places, but it didn't come both times. Google maps says it's arriving "now", and then "departed"… But I didn't see it come at all. What's up with this bus?
Google maps only shows the scheduled times, not the actual real-time status. Did you leave right after they were supposed to have left? Maybe they were just late. Were you at a stop that has a real-time display? Did you check the schedules posted at the stop to make sure you were actually at the one the bus goes to and not around the corner, for example?

What did the schedule at your bus stop say? (google can be not so reliable sometimes)
I ride it from time to time (in town, not all the way up to Takao) and haven’t noticed it being particularly bad in terms of timing.
Things to check:
– timetable
– being on the correct side of the road
– being on the correct bus stop
