Edit to add: Because you mates are saying I ‘milked’ the system. I did not know I would’ve gotten physical money. His insurance guy told me on the scene that they will pay for my hospital and meds even if it’s fulfilled outside the hospital. I was fine with that because where I’m from you get nothing.
Truth be told, I had forgotten about it after my last hospital results, which was more than 5 months earlier. All the posts I searched on Reddit did not mention getting paid physical money.
Hi guys. I wanted to join and post about my recent accident compensation to help others.
The accident:
In 2024 I had a car accident. I was already at a complete stop when a car run into me. I called the police and my insurance company immediately.
The other party, a young guy, came out and apologized immediately but looking like he wanted to leave the scene but I was having none of it. I pointed to my dashcam. I wasn’t hurt and felt fine but I’m in my 40s and wasnt taking an any chances with my health.
Both the police and my insurance came but the police just said we should resolve it by ourselves after taking a report and taking pictures. The guy‘s insurance came an hr later and wanted my car camera even though he admitted he is at fault. I told them I’ll give it to them later (I didn’t because the guy had already admitted fault so I didn’t want to cause any trouble on my part) .
After the accident:
I went to the ER via taxi (kept receipt) so my spouse could pick up the kids with the accident car. Was sent to another hospital (university hospital) where I told them I had accident but want to check. An X-ray was done, but was told to come back the next day for more tests such as more X-rays, MRI and C-scan.I went a total of 12 times to the hospital but it was mostly for test results & consultation and a bit of rehabilitation.
Compensation:
100% the other party‘s fault…because I was at a complete stop when I was hit.
The first money I got was from my insurance. An add-on I have says if I need to visit the hospital 5 times, I’ll get 100,000¥ and it won’t affect my premiums.
The guy‘s insurance paid for all my hospital visits, medications, days missed from work, my van repair and a brand new rental van I used for a month. I told my car dealer who was fixing my van that I wanted a rental upgrade because my kids will be inconvenienced not having their in-car media and such ( we got one with heated steering wheel, I didnt know that was a thing).
Total compensation amount ¥400,000
