I have read multiple people stating that visiting Fushimi Inari at night is a wonderful experience. We are planning on doing it on our trip to Japan in a few weeks but all the posts I find about the visiting Fushimi Inari an night are from several years ago. Has someone done it recently? Is the path well lit?

My wife and I went at night last week and thought that it was well lit. Would definitely recommend it.
Yeah, it is open and lit at night. Considering how busy the place is during the day, I personally much prefer it at night. Plus, if you hike all the way up, you get the beautiful night-time view of the city. Be aware that you might run into wild boars; however, I have never heard of them ever attacking anyone, so no worries. Just don’t be surprised if you suddenly see one.
I did it alone at night, only encountered about 5 humanoids and a few friendly cats. There was some heavy rustling in the bushes however, which might have been the wild boars, and some signs did indeed warn about them.
My favorite was getting there in the dark presunrise.
Going in March and that’s my plan! I’ve watched a few vlogs/read comments here and the area is very well lit as long as you stick to the main path. I’ve even seen groups of wild boars in some vids, but if you don’t make eye contact and stay out of their way they usually pass along or leave.
We plan to go around 4 or 5pm-ish (will check Google for more accurate sundown time day of) so we can see the sunset while we climb.
When I was there last year at night, I saw a photoshoot happening in the Senbon Torii approaching the main shrine. So it’s definitely still a thing
I did it last year, don’t remember if the path was lit all that well or not, but nonetheless I don’t remember it being a problem. I thought I would be the only person going there at night but there were actually few people as well, bot Japanese and foreigners.
I’d definitely recommend going. Even though I’ve already visited it once during daytime, it felt like a completely different place during the night.
