One night Mt Fuji

[BEST PLACE TO STAY FOR FUJI VIEWS TRAVELING TOKYO > OSAKA?]

Hello! My boyfriend and I are spending 9 nights in Japan in early March.

Our itinerary is Osaka (2 nights) -> Takayama (3 nights) -> Tokyo (3 nights) -> Mt Fuji somewhere (1 night) -> fly out of Osaka at 9pm.

My boyfriend really wants to see Fuji so we were going to spend 1 night in Hakone on our way from Tokyo, and also chose Hakone to make it easy to get back to Osaka on our last day ahead of our flight that night. But I think I’m realising Hakone isn’t really the most scenic option for Fuji views!?

I’m now trying to see if Fujikawaguchiko is doable but I’m getting some conflicting/confusing info about whether it makes sense logistically to stop there for just 1 night, and whether it is easy enough to get to Osaka. I saw in another post to get a bus to Mishima and then the train to Osaka, so it might be doable.

I’m looking for recommendations on this plan – are the views in Fujikawaguchiko worth the extra travel? Is the vibe of the town cute or is it a bit boring other than the view? Is there another place we should be considering for beautiful scenic views of Fuji that makes more sense logistically on our journey?

(for context – it’s our first time in Japan and we’re big nature people, love to walk and enjoy scenery, also hoping to stay somewhere we can relax and indulge in a nice onsen before our flight back to Australia).

Thank you 🙂
