What do you think of my itinerary?
We are going for our honeymoon next September. My fiancé's only priority was to pick a destination where he could chill and snorkel. Mine was to visit a country we would have little opportunity to see in the future due to work obligations, future kids, housing costs, etc. A Japan + Okinawa trip seemed to meet this compromise well.
Flights are already booked. Ishigaki is the only concrete portion of our trip thus far. Now, I just want to finalize our schedule for the mainland before booking hotels. The only thing I do want to avoid is making the trip too overwhelming with travel time. Here's my draft:
Tokyo (1 Day) -> Ishigaki (5.5 Days) -> Kobe/Osaka (2.5 Days) -> Wakayama (3 Days) -> Tokyo (3 Days)
I am undecided on whether we will stay in Kobe or Osaka. Kobe is the city we are flying to from Ishigaki. I know the cities are close together, and honestly, I would prefer to stay in Osaka. However, I want to avoid the immediate rush to shuffle to more transportation once we land, so perhaps it's more time-effecient to chill and explore in Kobe, and just do a day trip to Osaka.
I am also open to other destinations that align with our route from Osaka/Kobe back to Tokyo. Wakayama just seems very interesting to me, but I'd be excited to hear of other cool spots to visit, too.
Any advice would be much appreciated!
