Hi we are planning to visit Chaurami Aquarium in 20Jan and seems like there’s a 90% chance of rain! Is it still a good day to visit Chaurami.. is the dolphin show fairly sheltered and are the feedings sheltered too?
I only have 20, 21, 22 there. 21 & 22 are forecasted to be cloudy with 40% chance rain and I’m gonna Neo Park / Pineapple Park on one of those days which seems to require good weather a bit more? Also planning to hit the sakuras at Yaedake Sakuranomori on one of those days.
Thanks for advice!

The dolphin exhibit is covered and they still did the show when there was mild rain last time I went. The feeding areas I don’t remember super clearly, I want to say that there was a small awning right where you fed them but not in the line waiting to feed them
That being said I don’t think you have to worry about rain as much as you think. It’s only 40% after 10am and the expected precipitation is <0.25mm during any given hour, so expect overcast with occasional and very mild rain but nothing that should ruin your day.
The feeding areas are unsheltered. However, there is a downstairs viewing space for the sea turtles that is fully sheltered. You can’t feed them from there, but you can watch them swimming underwater 🙂
The Aquarium is a pretty good place to go if it is raining because it inside. Dolphin show is covered. There’s also plenty see in the nearby in the surround park that you’ll enjoy more on a cloudy day than in the blazing heat of summer. I went just before the rainy season and it was already really hot then.
Hi I’m coming back to say thanks for the tips and to share how it went! We went ahead on the rainy day. It was unsheltered from carpark to the aquarium entrance so it was pretty windy/light rain luckily I brought an umbrella which we used for the kid.
From the aquarium to the dolphin performance & turtles required another outdoor walk in the wind/rain and kiddo caught a chill unfortunately.
In all we did enjoy our aquarium visit but just wanted to highlight for future visitors that there are unsheltered areas nonetheless so still bring an umbrella/raincoat!
