We’re landing at NRT at 4:30 pm from Calgary on April 27 and heading straight to Osaka the same day.
I know Golden Week officially starts April 29, so April 27 isn’t technically Golden Week yet. Still, I’m unsure whether it’s better to book Shinkansen tickets in advance or just buy them at Tokyo Station.
My main concern is timing. I’m not sure how long immigration, customs, and baggage claim will take at Narita, plus the train ride into Tokyo Station. I don’t want to reserve Shinkansen seats for a specific time and then miss it if things take longer than expected.
For anyone who’s done this around late April:
Would you recommend reserving Shinkansen seats ahead of time, or is it usually fine to buy tickets at Tokyo Station that evening?
We will be bringing 2 checked and 2 carry-ons total.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
