Would appreciate advice regarding tech opportunities in Tokyo

Hey everyone,

I am a first year, international undergrad student studying CS at a very good university in Japan.

I am Japanese, but since I spent most of my life in an English-speaking country, my first language is English and my Japanese is slightly subpar and all over the place in terms of knowledge. I am definitely thinking of studying Japanese really hard, definitely at least N1 level.

I started Javascript web programming 5 months ago, and I would say it's going pretty well (React, NextJS, Express, that kinda stuff). Right now I'm thinking of keeping my head down and focusing on Japanese and coding more, but after that I'm not really sure what to do. Is there a FAANG but for Japan? When should I apply for internships? I just feel a little lost for my future goals, as I was originally set to go to a university in the UK, and I've obviously been more exposed to the Western environment.

If it helps in any way, I have a Japanese passport.

I don't expect a complete roadmap, but I would appreciate some advice or general tips that can help to give me a better direction. Thanks a lot!!
